Diamonds are a Comper’s Best Friend

shutterstock_diamondsHello, Competition Hunters! The news this week has been full of comments about the passing of the mighty Joan Rivers. Admittedly, some of her more recent opinions were a bit ‘out there’, but I will always remember this quote from her younger days – it makes me laugh every time I read it (mostly because it supports my own distaste of housework!):

I don’t do housework; if God had wanted me to bend over, he’d have put diamonds on the floor.

With this quote in mind, I thought I’d find a few bonus competitions to win a diamond.  I doubt I’d have many opportunities to wear it, seeing as I’m not one for formal functions at the best of times. However, wouldn’t it be lovely to swan about the house trying not to do housework whilst wearing diamonds? Very Audrey Hepburn!

Talking of Ms Hepburn, and all things Breakfast at Tiffany’s, did you know that the yellow diamond is Tiffany’s signature diamond? Neither did I, until I decided to read up on them before entering a competition to win a yellow one.

Tiffany’s expertise in exceptional yellow diamonds dates back to 1878 when Charles Lewis Tiffany purchased the 287.42-carat Tiffany Diamond. Cut into a cushion-shape brilliant weighing 128.54 carats, this priceless stone is one of the most important yellow diamonds in the world, drawing thousands of visitors to the New York flagship each year.

This competition, to win a yellow diamond, doesn’t have a closing date but the winner will be drawn once the Twitter account amasses 2000 followers. It’s incredible that such a huge prize isn’t drawing more attention – but maybe it’s the lack of closing date that puts people off? Who cares – let’s all enter it – one of us might win it (let us know if it’s YOU!) details are here: http://www.diamondinsights.co.uk/take-part-in-our-twitter-competition-for-the-chance-to-win-a-yellow-diamond/

Two competitions running in ‘You and Your Wedding Magazine’ offer the chance to win diamonds. These ones are the real deal. This is the first:   http://www.youandyourwedding.co.uk/competitions/win-the-diamond-ring-of-your-dreams/198.html a competition to win a diamond cluster ring worth an astonishing £1995. Both competitions close on 30/09/2014, so you have plenty of time to enter. To enter this first competition, you need to complete the following phrase: Something old, something new, something borrowed, something… (Clue: It’s not orange, or yellow, or red or green) – then you enter your details. The second one can be found using this link: http://www.youandyourwedding.co.uk/competitions/win-1000-to-spend-at-purely-diamonds/200.html and you can win £1000 to spend at Purely Diamonds. To enter, you’ll need to answer the question: Purely Diamonds are based near? The Answer is: Hatton Garden.

The last competition requires the purchase of a candle – one of these candles holds a diamond ring worth £1000. I don’t usually like competitions that require a purchase, but the proceeds go to registered charity, The British Legion, so it definitely has a feel-good factor. You can find this here: http://www.candlerings.co.uk/pages/comp

If Joan Rivers could have seen all these, I’m sure she would have wanted to enter them – although, she might have had to ask someone else to enter for her as I’m sure it would have been too much like hard work!

What would you do if you won a fabulous diamond? Save it for special occasions, allocate it as your new best friend, or…something else? Let us know in the comments below!
