The Great Comping Escape

dreaming holiday

Hello, Competition Hunters! I won a Land Rover Discovery! It was amazing – the promoter left it outside my house – all I had to do was sign the form! It arrived complete with a personalised number plate and the interior was to die for! The car of my dreams!

I woke this morning and looked out of the window – and it was gone! The realisation dawned on me that I must have dreamt it. Gutted. It doesn’t exist, except it still does – in my imagination.

Now. Dreaming all this has got me thinking – what if I DO win one? I’ve been looking out for competitions to win a Land Rover ever since and thinking up personalised number plates – just in case!

Has this happened to you before? Don’t tell me I’m alone here – PLEASE! It’s certainly not the first time; these little comping daydreams of mine are a regular occurrence after a comping session. I love sitting down with a cup of tea, after a comping session and let my mind drift away into pure fantasy! See how many of the following ‘comping fantasies’ you have had. I feel I should apologise in advance for implanting them in your head!

Winning EVERYTHING you enter

Now, any regular reader to these blogs will appreciate how optimistic I am. Cue the song: The girl can’t help it! I definitely think this CAN happen. Firstly, one competition doesn’t know how many you’ve entered – therefore – it can’t ‘know’ that winning everything is improbable. Secondly, I know winning everything I’ve entered is improbable – but – not impossible!  If it’s not impossible it could definitely happen for real!

Winning a large amount of money

Winning huge sums of cash is one of things that we KNOW can happen. Unlike non-compers, we are fully aware that authentic competitions genuinely handover the prizes. It’s not uncommon for a prize to be worth over a thousand pounds, sometimes a few thousand! I have lots of different fantasies about this one, stemming from keeping it a secret before saying anything, how to give it away, setting up a secret business, how to invest it etc. Again, it’s not outside the realm of reality for this to be an impossible dream.

Making a media statement

This may be veering into fantasy territory now – but sometimes, big winners have to make acceptance speeches to the promoters, don’t they? For this one, I like to stand in front of the mirror to practice my ‘media smile’ – not too much, and not too little (looking ungrateful), not too snug and not too gormless – the inevitable photo has to be non-cringeworthy so that I can put it in my scrapbook.  Next comes the speech. I have played around with several speeches, but each one is different. I just know that if the time comes, I probably won’t have a clue what I’m saying!

Theme-it

Even further down the rabbit hole, we encounter my ‘theme-it’ fantasies. Again, any regular reader will know that ‘theming’ my comping to complement a theme/dream is something I’m particularly fond of. My best theme-it fantasy is to increase my luck by dressing head-to-toe in prizes; clothes, shoes, jewellery, make-up, even the haircut restyle, pedicure and manicure and the massages and skin treatments that I’ve just returned from. Bliss!

Funny experiences

Imagining prizes that promoters could offer is my final confession to you. Experiences are my favourite thing to win, and creative comps are my favourite, so it is somewhat obvious that winning my own design would be a priority. I’d love to win the chance to design a dress and walk down the catwalk at the Paris fashion show – and the results of this is that Vivien Westwood thinks it’s so brilliant that she ends up giving me a job as an ideas person -

…Ah, I feel I’ve gone too far now. My cup of tea is finished. Back to the grindstone – these comps won’t enter themselves!

What is your favourite comping daydream? Do you share any of the above, or have you got your own? Have you dreamt about a prize and then won it? Let us know in the comments below!
