Scenario 1: You have just been told that your appointment has been delayed. You are now stuck in a waiting room and think, okay – I’ll do a few comps… only to find there is no Wi-Fi.
Scenario 2: You are in a queue, a long one. The person in front of you has forgotten to bring her purse so she uses her card…. oh. Now it’s been declined. Now the till assistant is ringing through to the manager. All your shopping is on the belt, and you don’t want to move it. You decide to do a few comps to pass the time. But you can’t – because you have no Wi-Fi!
Scenario 3: You are on holiday. You’ve read your summer reading list. You’ve done all the activities. Your family are having forty winks but you are bright-eyed and bushy-tailed and ready to comp, but…yes, you guessed it! No Wi-Fi!
SO! How do you comp when you cannot get wifi? Well…here are a few suggestions:
Creativity – You know all those creative competitions that you just haven’t usually got time to tackle? Now you have! The note section of your phone requires no Wi-Fi and later on, you can easily copy and paste your answer into a competition entry form to win!
Creative competitions usually have great prizes you can win cash – so now is the time to cash in! Many competitions have a section that asks you ‘why you should win’ – so: make it up now!
Writing yourself a selection of funny, inspiring, heart-warming and downright surreal answers to this question will enable you to simply copy and paste your answers at a busier time in your schedule – ensuring you give yourself the best possible chance of winning cash – even when you are busy!
Photographs – I don’t know about you, but my phone photograph cache is not only huge – but incredibly muddled. Creating albums is a time-intensive chore at the best of times, but it will really help speed up your entries at a later stage. I plan to do this soon. I’m giving mine these general titles: Children, Animals, Landscape, flora and Fauna, Funny and Weird – but you can title yours however you want!
Comments – Social media competitions that ask for comments are sometimes chosen by a human, rather than by random draws. Even if the comments are going into a hat – isn’t it best to cover yourself, just in case?
Facebook photo comments are a good way to get noticed. Also, I think a personal signature comment is a nice way to define your individuality – rather than the lazy ‘liked and shared’ – you could use this time to create a phrase that will make you stand out (several – just in case you get people copying you!). Use the time now and the rewards might be greater!
Learn a skill – Most apps are not dependent on Wi-Fi. Think about the kind of competitions that you would love to do – if only you had the skill.
My next one is animation because the video competitions attract fewer entries. Moreover, an animated video – showing that you have applied your skill might just tip the odds in your favour. I like the idea of animation because there is less emphasis on getting the lighting correct and no outside noises. What will yours be?
I hope you have found this useful. How do you comp outside when the Wi-Fi is playing hide and seek? Can you add to the list? Let us know in the comments below!
